On May 12th, 2024, tragedy struck the foothills of Mount Rwenzori when a devastating landslide swept through the villages of Kyondo Subcounty and Kyarumba in Kasese District. Thirteen lives were lost in the disaster, and countless others were left in despair—displaced from their homes, their crops destroyed, and their livelihoods shattered.
In the aftermath, many survivors sought refuge in makeshift camps, the largest of which was established at Kanyatsi Catholic Church. It was here that stories of loss and resilience echoed under the Rwenzori sky.
Moved by the plight of the victims, Adorn Life Initiative, with generous support from students of Kampala International University and well-wishers from Lira, organized a relief outreach to stand with the affected families during their time of need. Volunteers gathered and delivered much-needed supplies, including foodstuffs, clothing, footwear, and various household items.
These items were distributed at Kanyatsi Catholic Church, where hundreds of people had gathered in hope of help. What arrived was more than material support—it was a sign that they were not alone, that even in the face of disaster, compassion could still reach them.
Adorn Life Initiative extends heartfelt gratitude to every individual and group that contributed to this cause. Your generosity made a difference, reminding the people of Kyondo and Kyarumba that their lives and futures still matter.
